HISTORY: Originally called Rancho Calleguas, Camarillo Ranch was an approximately 10,000-acre Mexican land grant purchased by Juan Camarillo in 1875. His son, Adolfo, built the Queen Anne Victorian home in 1892. Adolfo Camarillo was a community leader, a philanthropist and a visionary businessman. Today, and for many generations to come, we continue to reap the benefits of Adolfo’s many acts of generosity. TODAY: Camarillo Ranch is owned by the City of Camarillo and operated by the non-profit public benefit corporation, the Camarillo Ranch Foundation. The Foundation strives to communicate the values and history of the last Spanish Don, Adolfo Camarillo. Through preservation of the Camarillo Ranch, the Foundation inspires children and families to understand the history of our community and the legacy of Adolfo Camarillo. MISSION: To preserve, restore, operate, and maintain the Camarillo Ranch as an historic site in partnership with our public and private sectors, on a self-sustaining basis; to foster its place in the rich history of California; to transform it into a focal point of the community for education, enrichment, and enjoyment; and to exhibit our diverse history and culture.
